Helping people feel comfortable in the gym, learn good technique and build strength without feeling intimidated.
About Josie
I’ve been a personal trainer since 2007. Alongside 19 years of one-to-one coaching, I hold an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy and I’m completing a Bachelor of Exercise & Sport Science at Australian Catholic University.

What sets me apart
The combination of experience and education is the foundation of how I coach. Nineteen years on the gym floor has taught me things that can’t be learned from a short course: how to read the person in front of me, when to progress, when to simplify, and how to adapt training when life, health or confidence changes.
My university study gives that experience a deeper scientific foundation. I’ve studied exercise physiology, biomechanics, exercise prescription, strength and conditioning, and human movement. It helps me assess evidence critically and understand why a method works, who it suits and when a different approach makes more sense.
My Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy adds another layer of education in nutrition, health and lifestyle. Together, these areas allow me to look beyond the individual workout and build training around the whole person.
I don’t simply take people through exercises. I think carefully about exercise selection, technique, training volume, progression and how the program fits the person’s goals and real life.
Nineteen years of coaching
My client base has broadened with every year I’ve worked, and that variety has made me a more adaptable coach.
Helping people feel comfortable in the gym, learn good technique and build strength without feeling intimidated.
Providing more structure, refining exercise selection and technique, and creating clearer progression.
An increasing part of my client base. Training focuses on strength, balance, confidence and maintaining the physical capacity to live independently and keep doing the things they enjoy.
Working with clients after knee reconstructions, chronic illness, injuries or a long break from exercise, and rebuilding capacity progressively.
Adapting exercise through pregnancy and the return to training afterwards, with an individual approach to each stage.
Some clients have trained with me for five, ten or more years. Their programs continue to evolve as their goals, bodies and lives change.
“A qualification gives you knowledge. Experience teaches you how to apply it to the individual standing in front of you.”
How I coach
My approach is evidence-informed and centred on resistance training. I care about good movement, appropriate challenge and measurable progress, but I don’t believe training needs to feel clinical or complicated.
I want you to understand what we’re doing and feel confident asking questions. I’ll challenge you when it’s useful, adjust when it’s needed and keep the program moving forward without losing sight of what you actually want from training.
You’ll always work directly with me. I plan your program, coach every session and get to know how you move and respond over time.
Qualifications & continued study
I’ve continued studying throughout my career because better knowledge leads to better decisions for my clients.
